What do I do? I do hip-hop, point blank period. I'm the voice of the people, not the major labels, not the radio, not the television, the people. Brief history, I started out emceeing 10 years ago, then when it was time to go to college I moved to Indiana and became a dj for the college radio station, WUEV 91.5 under the alias Sheist Boogie. I kept myself up with the hot shit, as well as give anyone with a mic a chance to bring a cd up there, cause it wasn't up to me to judge whether or not they were hot, I left it to the listeners. After three years in radio...let's just say I left the building back in 2006.
After leaving the station I focused on emceeing and beats, signed to an indie label down in Indiana (Gator9 Music) and started eating mics. I dropped an album late spring 2008, but I didn't get to push it that hard cause I moved back home to Detroit. I still spit from time to time, but it's mostly for upcoming mixtape projects and collabos with my people up here.
So where does that leave me now? Over the last few months I got back into djing. I got some new decks and equipment, dusted off my vinyls and got back to work. I'm not a real famous dj, I'm not in the club every other night and all that...I'd like to, but I'm not there yet. Right now I'm the dj in the streets...hungry. I'm the nigga at the house parties, the rental halls and local bars. I'm the guy to show up in your town with just my turntables and set em up in a park just to get something started. I don't let any fad or program director or tv show tell me what to and not to play...if it's hot I'm spinnin it. My clique is called The Party, because that's what we bring. I went back to why I became a dj in the first place...call me Smithsonian.
