RONTU has not received any gifts yet
When your father is Ron Louis Smith and your uncle is Jerome “J Bird” Smith, the question bears asking, “Is musical success a part of your destiny or merely a case of an artist catching the bug because you grew up around music?” For Rontu, it was his years at Florida A&M University that made him realize that music was more than his father’s business. It’s kind of impossible to grow up around the musical geniuses behind KC & The Sunshine Band and not have the musical bug deep in your soul. Rontu has been making noise with music as early as the age of five, when he picked up a microphone during his dad’s practice and delivered a tune that caught the attention of performers enjoying international fame. Currently Rontu is set to release his first project, which is easily described as an outpour of him and his reality. Rontu’s reality includes the smooth and sophisticated ladies man in addition to a person that is hard-core. This smooth and hard-core side is displayed on every style of music that Rontu does. Rontu’s project clearly displays an artist that yearns to think outside of the box and not just stick to street content. Yes, the street talk elements are found on this project but he also displays his intellect, smooth and sexy side and his high regard for family in his music. Rontu graduated from a south Florida high school known for “troubled kids” and on the flip side spent his college years at one of the top historical Black Universities in the country. He graduated from Florida International University with a degree in administration. There are so many facets to Rontu’s character and history. Nothing is held back when he shares his experiences with his fans. The high times as well as lows are all shared. This openness Rontu shares with his audience may be in part due to advice given to him from his father. Ron Louis Smith SR explained to Rontu, “If it doesn’t feel good, don’t do it”. When listening to Rontu’s music, it is obvious he has taken this advice from his platinum recording father to heart. A formula Rontu plans to stick to for years to come. One would have taught that having entertainment success from not one but two family members was a strong enough gift, but Rontu is using that gift to secure his creative as well as business success in the entertainment industry. Not one to be boxed in, this recording artist from the South spent years honing his writing, rapping, harmonizing and producing talents until he felt it was time to take it to Rontu, meaning ‘High Place’, a nickname given to him from the Senior Ron Louis. Even though Rontu knew at FAMU music was his business major, the young Ron Louis Smith is making a name for himself with music as his major business. © 2009 Created by Mixx Bosses on Ning.
